What will you do? The IALR Information Desk Specialist serves as a central point of contact for guests and staff, while providing a variety of office/administrative support services.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Greets and delivers superior customer service to visitors, clients, and guests of the Institute; serves as a gateway to the various departments of IALR by assisting in notifying staff of appointments, providing directions and information for event activities, and providing general information regarding the Institute and its mission Serves as the Institute operator by answering and routing the IALR main-line telephone calls promptly and professionally; Maintains and distributes work orders and daily event schedules for individuals and groups on site Acts as liaison between visitors in the building and urgent contact dissemination; responds to and follows emergency protocol and supplies them with the necessary documentation and notifies the appropriate department Attends and contributes to the ICC team meetings; provides ideas to improve efficiency within the ICC department; assists with note-taking and information as requested/needed by the Vice President of ICC and applicable staff.
Performs other established procedures supporting ICC with the master data bank of client information, helping to ensure proper handling/storing of sensitive and confidential client information Provides administrative support as necessary for the Vice President of ICC, Event Planner & Service Operations Coordinator, and staff which includes entering purchase requisitions into the computer database applications (Event Management Software (EMS) and Constant Contact), Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, and Helpdesk Assists with ICC event preparation, set-up, and other tasks, as assigned.
Where will you work? We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
Anticipated Work Hours We expect to hire two part-time Information Desk Specialists to work up to 25 hours each week.

What do you offer? A High School diploma or a General Education Development diploma (GED) is required.
Some college education is desired A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the hospitality and/or customer service industry is required Experience using various technological devices, data entry, and switchboard experience is required Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 Must demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills Must be detail-oriented and organized Must be customer service oriented and possess excellent interpersonal skills Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented work environment Must possess the ability to multitask and troubleshoot in a fast-paced work environment Exhibits a positive and professional appearance at all times Physical Requirements:

We expect to offer an hourly wage of $20 - $25 per hour (depending on experience).
