Keep up with and analyze sales activity.
List or update information on property records as needed.
Drive to property locations, physically walk around and examine all buildings to determine the required data to accurately assess properties.
Take clear digital images of any improvements on the properties.
Update data on the physical condition of buildings.
Communicate effectively with the public.
Measure and inspect exterior of buildings.
Accurately record property data, square footage, angles, sketches, and dimensions.
May assist in the training of new hires.
Responsibilities are not limited to the above.
Qualifications Strong desire to learn and grow in the real estate appraisal field.
High School graduate or equivalent work experience.
Problem-solving skills.
Good organizational skills, including attention to detail Ability to work independently or with other staff.
Ability to read maps and locate a physical location on a map.
Good math skills to calculate square footage, ratios, and similar functions.
Basic computer experience is preferred Training Opportunities On the job training Job related paid education Opportunity for advancement to motivated individuals Perform entry-level professional work in the appraisal of residential property; conducts field reviews, inspections, research, collection, analysis and calculation all pertinent property data information to be entered into a computer assisted mass appraisal system; maintain sales information; work new construction, mechanical and demolition permits made to each individual property; maintain records and data regarding property and property values; review daily and annually all sales and transfer histories for proper analysis to determine the fair and equitable assessment value for residential properties.

Performs external field work by reviewing current structures, new constructions, renovations, additions, and demolitions; using field measuring devices; walking in various terrains and weather conditions; interviewing property owners and construction managers to obtain proper information; reading floor plans and maps; taking and updating photos; and conducting interviews to validate sale/transfers and updating information.
Maintains property records by entering information in CAMA system; sketching and scaling property drawings; uploading photos and attaching to proper record; preparing reports/studies of sales/transfers; researching and collecting house data; maintaining and processing all data to come up with a fair market assessment; and assisting with assessment appeals.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES Performs internal supportive office work by answering phones; responding to customer/public inquiries and concerns.
Assists other internal offices with various City property programs.
Attends meetings and training sessions.
Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as assigned.
Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED or knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature with six months/one year of advanced study or training in college, vocational, business, and technical school, and over one year up to and including two years of experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above Certifications/Licenses Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record according to City criteria Job Knowledge Basic familiarity with the work to know common principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.
Reading Intermediate:
Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, and thesauruses.
Writing Intermediate:
Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
Math Intermediate:
Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.
Communication Skills Decisions regarding interpretation of policies may be made.
Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions.
Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
